Also John 2:16. If you look at the other accounts in Matt 21:12-16, Mark 11:12-18, and Luke 19:45-47 you'll notice the quote "My house will be called a house of prayer for ALL NATIONS" (emphasis added). This is from Isaiah 56:7 under the title "Salvation for Others" in the NIV.

The moneychangers had set up shop in the outer court, the place designated for the nations (gentiles), those other than Jews. In other words, part of the zeal of Jesus kicking out the moneychangers was that they set up shop at the expense of outsiders being able to come in and worship God.

I believe from my understanding of the
incident in the Temple that the thing that most angered Jesus was the fact that people were being hindered from coming to God.
Not only was there a situation set up to
take advantage of unsuspecting people, the very structure of the thing prevented those who were wanting to come to God from being able to.
It seems to me that the beauty of The Rubicon is that it will be a place that encourages people to come to God.

Rubicon will be a place that will display the work of local artists. As the environment is being created now, I would be glad to take a look at your artwork. Please send more information to gaye@salemfields.com.

I am a local artist-in fact right down the road from the cafe-and was wondering if you would like to buy/rent some of my artwork. I am moving very soon (within 6 weeks) and unfortunately cannot take it all. I have over 400 pieces and am willing to cut some serious deals, especially if you buy more than one piece. Please let me know asap.

This will be a common thread for many. I decided to get married. In caring for another human being as if it were my own life, I have grown exponentially. I have made the choice to develop a deeper relationship with God and learn what unconditional love really means. I have learned how showing someone all the love you have is a choice not just everyday, but every hour and even every minute.

Google tells us the author of the poem is Edgar Albert Guest, and there are even two more verses!

John Kaila, an attorney in Fredericksburg, won the contest to name the cafe. Several of us were sitting at Hyperion and I was explaining to him the concept of what I was looking for. Here's what I pitched to him: Have you ever climbed up a high dive and stood out on the edge trying to decide if you were going to jump, or turn around and go back down the ladder? Do you remember those moments at the end of the board when you made that decision to risk or play it safe? Can you remember what it was like in that moment? We make decisions like that every day that alters our future. And he said, "That's just like the Rubicon." I had no idea what Rubicon was, so he continued to tell me the story of Julius Ceasar crossing the Rubicon. I knew in that moment, "Rubicon" represented the essence of the cafe. It became Rubicon Cafe.

The easy one was my decision to follow Christ and be obedient to his will. This has changed my life in the past and continues to change it daily. What an exciting adventure it is when you do not know where God is leading you and the avenues are endless.
