The world has changed for me since last I wrote on the blog. I lost a brother to a sudden heart attack. It all happened so quickly. Out of 7 in my family of origin, I only have 1 brother left. I'm trying not to panic about having my whole family die off, one by one & intentionally attempting to avoid living in fear that I might lose him. It's very strange. So my brother & I are planning to do two adventurous things a year together so that if anything happens to one of us, we'll have no regrets. Guess you could say we're going to live like we were dying! Our first adventure is to skydive together - hope that's soon - and hope we don't get wiped out at the same time.
Rubicon is up & running. People are smiling, connecting & relaxing. Kevin Max was in for a concert last night - the first official concert in the cafe - very cool. Along with Kevin, thanks to Eric Cole, his guitarist who made the acoustic set a night to remember. Thanks, Kevin, for sharing your gift with us and staying and talking until the very last person had time with you. You guys are awesome!
If you haven't experienced Rubicon yet, check it out. You'll be pleasantly surprised - it's a WOW! Check out the upcoming events - "The Theology of Bon Jovi": an interactive spirituality on tap venue; a swing dance w/ instructor; and a semi-formal New Year's Eve Party.
On Monday, September 24, Rubicon will be offering Boar's Head soup, salads and deli sandwiches along with Seattle's Best coffee and Berkshire's Frozen Custard.

September 1 @ 4:00 marks the Grand Opening of Rubicon. "What can I look forward to in Rubicon that day?" you might be asking (I heard you!!). Well, the band will be jammin', the cappuccinocs will be steamin' and friends'll be connectin'. Not only that....the long-awaited Berkshire's Custard will be pumpin'. It'll make you smile when you experience the bliss of a waffle cone, sundae, smoothie, milkshake, apple dumplin' and/or any other sweet treat that might tempt you. Hang out, check it out.......or wander out at dusk & ooh & ahh at the fireworks from the deck. Whatever you do, plan to have a jammin' steamin' connectin' pumpin' time.
You may have noticed that a "Salem Fields Community Church" sign is absent from the front of the new addition (be sure to notice the one at the Main Entrance). The "Salem Fields Learning Center" and "Rubicon Cafe" signs have been strategically placed to show the location of each in the building. The original plan for the SFCC sign was postponed due to cost (approximately $35K) and complicated county regulations regarding location and placement. We have been and will continue to research the best available options until we can place the SFCC sign at it's very best, cost-effective location.
